We are seeking an actress to play:

ANNA - Asian female, should be able to play late 20's/early 30's, fluent English is essential for this role (about 5 pages of dialogue).  Beautiful and striking, Anna is an actress who immediately draws everyone's attention but has been unlucky with auditions and the local film industry.

Aside from Anna, we are looking for a wide range of supporting actors, 18 years to 70 years old, male, female, any ethnicity.  Each supporting actor has a small speaking role, the commitment is likely to be one to three shooting days.  There is also a wide range of nonspeaking extra roles available, so please let us know if you would also like to be considered for these.  Again, the commitment would be short, one or two days.  Principal filming will be from November 1 to December 6, 2009.

LUMINA the Web Series will officially kick off with a double webisode release on Tuesday, September 8, 2009.  New webisodes will be released every Tuesday thereafter, until the the first nine webisode story arc reaches its exciting conclusion!  Click here to download the full press release.

On September 8, we will host a press conference at 5 pm at Scirocco, 1/F 10-12 Staunton Street, SoHo (right next to the MidLevels Escalator) with an exclusive sneak peek at the first two webisodes followed by a Q&A with the cast and director.  Guest speaker Dan Carew of Indie 2.0 fame will talk about how cutting edge technology has redefined the modern filmmaker.  I know digital advances in cinema have certainly shaped my life as a director, and it's going to be amazing and refreshing to hear him talk about how beautiful storytelling doesn't have to be limited to the deep pockets of big studios.

My fellow HK indie filmmaker Dan Carew (Hard Fall, Indebted) featured LUMINA in a recent blog interview, and on the back of that, we got mentioned in Scott Kirsner's Cinematech blog as well!  To top it off, we also are featured on AlivenotDead.com's front page in the Artists Updates section.  I wish every week started like this one!

I am currently on the lookout for good music for the soundtrack.   If you want to recommend any favorite indie bands, please let me know!  Especially if you know anyone who sounds like a budding Muse or early My Chemical Romance.  ;)

We are looking for about ten or more extras for a crowd scene that we are filming on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the public open space in front of 99 Queen's Road Central.  Call time is at 8.00 am for extras, please wear dark, muted colors and solid close toed shoes.  It might be a little windy so please bring a jacket or windbreaker to keep warm.

When we get a chance, we will post some stills from the footage we've taken plus some behind the scenes pix for everyone to enjoy!

Preproduction on RockGinger's first project, the thriller web series LUMINA, is well under way. We are holding casting auditions at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, on Thursday, November 6, 2008, from 1 pm to 6 pm, and Friday, November 7, 2008, from 3 pm to 8 pm.  We want to see all that hot Hong Kong talent come and show their stuff!  If you're interested in auditioning, please contact Edy Huang at edy@rockginger.com or send us an email through our Secure e-mail Form to set up an appointment.

Principal filming is scheduled for November 29, 2008, to December 12, 2008 (mostly evening & weekend shoots).  We are looking for a male lead and a wide variety of supporting actors, ages ranging from 20-50, male and female, Asian and non-Asian.  The lead role and larger supporting roles currently available are:

RYDER (lead) - Asian male, 20-30 years old. Lumina's love interest; attractive, edgy.

ELIZA - Asian female, 30-50 years old. Lumina's boss; the conservative and successful family woman.

EBEN - Caucasian male, 20-40 years old. Ambitious but unlucky; always looking for the next big score.

TEDDY - Asian male, 20-30 years old. Lumina's best friend. The lovable otaku, geeky, funny and sweet.

JAMES - Asian male, 20-30 years old. Lumina's main rival at work. Brash, inexperienced and overconfident.

SERENA - Any race, female, 20-40 years old. Family friend to Lumina. Sassy and overtly cynical, but understanding.

MAEIDA - Asian female, 30-50 years old. Regal and cold.

Since we are an independent production, pay is going to be partly upfront and partly deferred.
